Farhat was sent in critical condition to Temple University Hospital. According to authorities, he was declared dead at 6:12 p.m. despite emergency measures.
Authorities said that Sherwayne Garrison, who lived in the 1500 block of Dyre Street, contacted SEPTA police officers at the scene and admitted to being the gunman. As investigators gathered information, the police Shooting Investigation Group analyzed the crime scene.
According to authorities, Garrison was later arrested and charged with murder and other connected offenses. There were no further information given regarding the events that preceded the shooting.
