Akron Cops Recognized at Annual Luncheon


AKRON, Ohio — Two Akron police officers were honored at an annual luncheon hosted by the Paul G. Barnes Optimist Club, recognizing their dedication and service to the community. Lieutenant Greg Joyce was named Officer of the Year for 2023, while Officer Justin Ingham received the same title for 2024 at a ceremony held at the New Era Restaurant on Tuesday.

Lieutenant Joyce was presented his award by Captain Kris Beitzel, acknowledging his contributions and leadership within the Akron Police Department. Officer Ingham’s award was given by Sergeant Karl Burton, highlighting Ingham’s efforts and commitment over the past year.

Mayor Malik attended the event and issued a proclamation marking the day as “Lt. Greg Joyce and Officer Justin Ingham Day,” further celebrating the officers’ achievements.
