AZA man in Scottsdale, Arizona, allegedly took drastic measures to address with what he perceived to be irresponsible e-bike users. Richard Davidson, 52, allegedly targeted two kids riding e-bikes on December 27. He attempted to drive them over with his car, confronted them violently, and then took their phones. After the disturbing incident was caught on tape, Davidson was arrested and charged with several criminal offenses.
Incident Unfolds in Scottsdale
Children riding e-bikes through traffic are said to have irritated Davidson, who was allegedly driving with his kid through a busy Scottsdale crossroads.
The scene’s surveillance tape shows Davidson exiting his Toyota RAV4, causing a child’s e-bike to go off the road, and then pursuing the little rider on foot.
He allegedly grabbed the child’s phone after he had forced the child off the bike, then pursued another rider, grabbed them off their moving e-bike, and snatched their phone as well.
Witnesses and Police Response
Authorities were notified of the disturbing scene right away by witnesses, some of whom described how Davidson attempted to strike the kids with his car. Police started looking for Davidson’s car as 911 calls poured in.
After a while, police found him and stopped him. Davidson reportedly admitted to officers during interrogation that he felt compelled to confront the kids about their behavior because he was angry about it.
Charges and Arrest
Davidson is currently facing several felony allegations, such as abandoning the scene of an event, aggravated assault on kids, and robbery.
In an interview with police, Davidson apparently showed no remorse for his actions, despite the gravity of the alleged offenses. While the inquiry is ongoing, he was placed under a $35,000 bond and booked into Maricopa County Jail.
