New Jersey’s Atlantic City.On November 21, the Atlantic City Police Department arrested four people, including a minor, after recovering three stolen cars in different incidents, police said Saturday.
Around 11:20 a.m., the first recovery took place in the first block of North Sovereign Avenue. Earlier that day, officers Tyler Daily and Thomas Gilardi found a car that had been reported stolen. At the scene, two Atlantic City residents, Jy Heem Benjamin-Hannah, 20, and a 16-year-old boy, were taken into custody. Benjamin-Hannah was accused of giving the police false information and was discovered in possession of a minor quantity of heroin.
Officer Keith Jordan subsequently pulled over a car that had been reported stolen a few days prior around 5:15 p.m. After being taken into custody, the driver—Nadiyah Wyatt, 30, of Atlantic City—was discovered to have many pending warrants.
The third incident happened at 6:30 p.m. when Officers William Harned and Kyle Bender found a car that had been taken earlier in the day in a parking garage. The driver, Floyd Mitchell, 40, of Essex, Maryland, was taken into custody.
Those detained are charged with a number of things:
- Jy heem Benjamin-Hannah, 20, of Atlantic City: Receiving stolen property, possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS), and hindering apprehension.
- 16-year-old male, Atlantic City: Receiving stolen property.
- Nadiyah Wyatt, 30, of Atlantic City: Receiving stolen property.
- Floyd Mitchell, 40, of Essex, Maryland: Receiving stolen property.
On summonses with future court dates, all four were set free.
