Attempted carjacking in Glen Burnie: Suspect flees after confrontation

Glen Burnie, M.D. Police are looking into a carjacking attempt that happened Tuesday night in the 100 block of Warwickshire Lane. The suspect threatened a young victim before leaving the area without the car.

Authorities claim that at around 5:30 p.m., the young person was taking things out of their mother’s 2013 black Kia Soul when the suspect came over, demanded the keys, and threatened to fire. When the suspect got inside the car, the victim obeyed and went for assistance.

The suspect, who was described as a Black male youngster wearing black attire, was seated in the driver’s seat as the car’s owner went outside. When approached, the suspect ran away on foot, and no weapons were seen throughout the encounter.

Despite searching the area, officers were unable to find the culprit. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tip Line at 410-222-4700 or the Regional Crimes Unit at 410-222-4730, according to investigators.
