Baltimore grandma bags $100K scratch-off win

BALTIMORE, MD

— A retired grandmother from Baltimore is now $100,000 richer after winning the top prize on the Maryland Lottery’s $100,000 Crossword 8th Edition scratch-off game.

The longtime lottery player purchased the ticket last Thursday during her routine stop at Oryes Liquors, located at 1001 East 25th Street. After returning home and scanning her tickets on the Maryland Lottery app, she received a message that read, “Winner, take to Lottery.”

“I was quite surprised and excited that I won that much money,” the winner said.

She called her husband to confirm the win, and the two shared a moment of celebration. With her winnings, the retiree said she plans to pay off bills and enjoy her retirement with added financial comfort.

The Baltimore woman, a loyal player of scratch-offs for over 20 years, said she has no intention of slowing down and already looks forward to her next chance at a big win.

Oryes Liquors will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. According to the Maryland Lottery, two more $100,000 top prizes remain unclaimed for this game, along with several lower-tier prizes.
