Baltimore, Maryland.Baltimore police reported that five individuals, including three minors, were taken into custody in relation to a carjacking that took place in the Southeast District of the city on Monday night.
Around 10:30 p.m. on December 30, officers were called to the 300 block of Elreno Street and spoke with the victim, who claimed to have been carjacked at gunpoint close to the junction of Elreno Street and Bank Street. The victim claimed that two people got out of a black automobile, brandished a firearm, and demanded that he give up his car.
Police located the victim’s car in Essex, Baltimore County, at the 1200 block of Bridge Crossing Road using OnStar equipment that was installed in the vehicle. Officers found the car and saw suspects running on foot with the help of the Foxtrot airborne unit and Baltimore County police.
Five individuals were captured by officials after a brief pursuit: two adults, ages 18 and 19, and three adolescents, ages 15, 16, and 17. One of the young suspects had a Glock 17 replica handgun found on him, according to the police. The suspect’s escape vehicle and the carjacking vehicle were both found at the location.
The names of the adult suspects have not yet been made public by the police, and no injuries were reported during the incident. The carjacking is still being investigated.
