After an inmate at the Bexar County Jail passed away due to a medical episode, officials have started an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.
At approximately eleven o’clock on Sunday night, the body of the 42-year-old inmate, who has not been recognized as of yet, was discovered inside his detention cell.
Deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office attempted to save the life of the detainee by initiating an emergency medical code and attempting to save his life.
As a result, officials from the San Antonio Fire Department declared the detainee to be deceased shortly after the incident, according to the BCSO.
Based on the information provided by BCSO, it seems that the convict passed away as a result of a medical incident. It is the responsibility of the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office to ascertain the reason for the official death.
As of the 29th of July, this is the sixth death that has occurred at the facility since the month of July.
Additionally, the inquiry into the death is being handled by the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office of Bexar County. It is also being investigated by the Internal Affairs unit of the BCSO.
Officials at the jail have informed the Texas Commission on Jail Standards about the situation.
