Boston According to Boston Police, a 40-year-old man was taken into custody late Friday night after he allegedly fired a gun after a road rage incident in the South End.
At at 10:37 p.m., District D-4 officers were called to reports of gunfire near 145 East Berkeley Street. Officers were notified that a road rage dispute had gotten out of hand when the suspect shot the victim’s car.
Officers arrested Jair Furtado of Boston, the driver of the suspect’s car, after finding two cars stopped at the junction of Harrison Avenue and East Berkeley Street.
Police found a Springfield Hellcat gun inside the car, with eight bullets in the magazine and one round in the chamber. A holster and a box of ammunition were found during a later examination of the car.
Furtado was taken into custody and accused of firing a firearm within 500 feet of a residence and assault with a dangerous weapon. It is anticipated that Boston Municipal Court will arraign him.
