Bronx Woman Charged for Robbing 7-Year-Old Boy at Fruit Stand


NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department has announced the arrest of a Bronx woman in connection with a robbery. Monique Fort, 48, was taken into custody on Tuesday, October 16, 2024, at approximately 10:45 a.m., within the confines of the 44th Precinct. Fort, who resides at 880 East 147th Street, was charged with robbery in the second degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree, and assault in the third degree.

Separately, police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying another individual wanted for a robbery that took place in the same precinct last month.

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a 7-year-old boy was attempting to pay for fruit at a store located at 1356 Jerome Avenue when an unidentified individual snatched money from his hand. The boy’s 38-year-old mother intervened, attempting to stop the suspect, but was punched in the face by the individual, who then fled northbound toward East 170th Street.


EMS treated the woman for her injuries at the scene. No arrests have been made in this case, and police are asking for help in identifying the suspect involved.
