Brooklyn, New York For shooting a 15-year-old boy at the Bushwick Houses in 2018, a Brooklyn man received a sentence ranging from 25 years to life in prison. A 43-year-old guy was also injured in the shooting.
Elijah Harris of Bedford-Stuyvesant, 25, was sentenced by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. For the charges of second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Donald Leo sentenced Harris on Tuesday.
According to the evidence in court, Harris was riding a bicycle on July 17, 2018, close to 370 and 390 Bushwick Avenue. After that, he fired at least nine shots into a courtyard and playground, striking a 43-year-old male and 15-year-old Kyon Jackson.
Following the incident, Jackson was declared dead at Woodhull Hospital. Shortly later, Harris was taken into custody, and authorities found the gun.
