Burglary suspects flee police in stolen vehicle

NUTLEY, N.J.

— A stolen Land Rover was recovered Saturday morning following a residential burglary and brief police chase, according to the Nutley Police Department.

Officers first observed a vehicle without license plates stopped in the middle of Sharlene Road. When an officer approached the vehicle, it sounded its horn several times and fled the scene at a high speed.

Police returned to the area shortly after and saw a Land Rover backing out of a driveway and speeding away. Officers conducted a check of the residence and discovered signs of forced entry through a rear window.

Authorities determined that the home had been broken into and the vehicle’s keys had been taken in order to steal the Land Rover. No one was inside the house at the time, and contact was later made with the homeowners.

The stolen vehicle was recovered by police. The department did not release information on any suspects or arrests related to the case.

Ongoing investigation into burglary and vehicle theft

The investigation remains active as police continue to gather evidence and review any potential surveillance footage in the neighborhood. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

“The keys to the Land Rover [were] taken in order to steal it,” police stated in a summary of the morning’s events on Facebook.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Nutley Police Department directly.
