The woman driving the car, who had an outstanding arrest warrant against her, was arrested and the youngster was found safe. A routine traffic check on a peaceful section of roadway east of San Diego led to this speedy comeback.
Suspicious SUV Stopped in California
On January 3, 2025, at approximately nine in the morning, Border Patrol officers pulled over an SUV close to Buckman Springs Road, which is situated on Interstate 8 north of Boulder Oaks. The odd conduct of the car, which was heading west, attracted the agents’ attention.
A 6-year-old youngster, another adult woman, and a 36-year-old woman were all inside the SUV.
A shocking revelation resulted from the agents’ usual identity check of the residents.
Active Warrant for Driver s Arrest
Agents discovered that there was an active arrest warrant for the driver after verifying the identification of people inside the car.
The 6-year-old youngster in the automobile was the subject of a warrant issued by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in Texas for interference with child custody. The infant was allegedly abducted during a custody battle in Texas, which led to the warrant.
Both the driver and the youngster were taken into custody by the agents and taken to a nearby Border Patrol station for additional processing.
Collaboration with U.S. Marshals and Reunification with Family
Agents from the Border Patrol contacted the U.S. Marshals Service for additional support after verifying the warrant’s facts. The driver was arrested by the Marshals and is currently being charged with the alleged kidnapping.
In the meantime, plans were put in place to reconnect the kid with her family and place her in safe custody.
Patricia McGurk-Daniel, San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent, commended the agents for their prompt and efficient actions in rescuing the child.
According to a statement from McGurk-Daniel, this is just another instance of how agents’ vigilance benefits our communities and country.
Agents went above and above their normal border security responsibilities in this instance, as they frequently do, to bring a missing youngster back to their home.
