Caribou, Maine Snow Alert: Up to 4 Inches Expected Thursday, More Snow Possible This Weekend

Oswego, New York Oswego, Watertown, and Lowville are under a winter weather advisory, and by Friday morning, 3 to 6 inches of snow are predicted. Travel may be challenging due to hazardous road conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.

The National Weather Service predicts that snow will start at about 6 p.m. on Thursday and last until 6 a.m. on Friday. Particularly during the Friday morning commute, drivers should brace themselves for decreased visibility and icy roadways. Gusty winds will make it feel much colder, with temperatures hovering in the low 30s.

Snow is also predicted for Caribou, Maine, further north. Thursday afternoon will see the start of light snowfall, which will reach 2 to 4 inches by Friday morning. Before another system brings snow showers on Saturday and Sunday, conditions will momentarily improve on Friday.

Forecast for the Weekend and the Coming Week

Maine will get further snowfall on Saturday, with accumulation predicted all day long and temperatures remaining below freezing. A second system is expected to move in Friday night and into Saturday, bringing more snow to the Tug Hill and Adirondack regions of New York.

Temperatures in both states will drop sharply by Sunday, with lows in Maine falling below zero. By midweek, there will probably be more snow and rain, which could affect travel once more.

Especially on key roads, drivers should keep an eye on weather updates and factor in additional travel time. As February draws to a close and March gets underway, be ready for winter weather.
