Peoria, Illinois Beginning Wednesday morning and continuing through late Wednesday night, a major winter storm is predicted to bring heavy snowfall to portions of central and west-central Illinois and northeast Missouri.
The heaviest accumulations are anticipated close to and northwest of the Illinois River, with a 40–60% likelihood of at least 6 inches of snow falling in Illinois northwest of I-55, according to the National Weather Service. Snow totals in Missouri could be anywhere from five to eight inches. Important cities including Peoria, Bloomington, Quincy, and Hannibal are probably going to be affected by the storm.
Conditions for travel could get dangerous, especially on Wednesday nights. In the event of a traffic emergency, officials advise citizens to pack winter emergency kits with blankets, flashlights, and extra clothing and to postpone travel if at all feasible.
Late Wednesday evening is when the storm is predicted to taper off. When conditions change, residents should keep an eye on the National Weather Service’s and local authorities’ bulletins.
