Chiang Mai Thai & Sushi Hosts Asian Lion Dance

Visitors to the District in Downtown Clearwater were treated to a unique experience today – a traditional Asian lion dance with Taiko Drumming.

Hosted by Chiang Mai Thai & Sushi, a downtown restaurant,

two shows were performed by the Suncoast Asian Cultural Association on the 400 block of Cleveland Street.

A Thai DJ also was on hand to celebrate a special lady’s college graduation,

but many came out to enjoy the outdoor dining, music and dancing…

and to celebrate with family and friends.

The Golden Dragons added drums and cymbals.

People clamored to give dollars to the lions, possibly hoping for good luck for the rest of the year.

Attendees vied for the best vantage points to take photos and videos.

The Lion Dancers performed remarkable acrobatics to stand tall…

and revealed their true selves at the end.

Diners sampled various cuisines at The District’s many restaurants…

Sheila Neisler, who does marketing for The District in Downtown Clearwater said, “We hope to do more of these culture festivals for the Chiang Mai Flower Festival and Asian New Year.”

Many thanks to Chiang Mai Thai & Sushi and the Suncoast Asian Cultural Association for the great time!
