Chris Cuomo Reveals His Surprising 2024 Presidential Vote: ‘I Probably Shouldn’t Tell You

NewsNation host Chris Cuomo recently revealed on the “PBD Podcast” that he wrote in his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, as his choice for president in the 2024 election. Unhappy with both major candidates, President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Cuomo explained he believed the country could do better than the two main options. He emphasized his discontent with both the Democratic and Republican candidates, arguing that American leadership should aim higher.

Cuomo also elaborated on his podcast that Trump’s victory over Harris reflected a backlash against what he described as “excessive liberal ideology” or “wokeism.” He argued that many Americans perceive “woke” values as being imposed on them, which contributed to their support for Trump. According to Cuomo, the election results signaled that concerns over the economy and resistance to progressive social changes were significant factors in the outcome, with voters rejecting ideas that they felt clashed with traditional values.

President-elect Donald Trump won 312 electoral votes and leads Vice President Kamala Harris in the popular vote by over 2% as of Tuesday afternoon, according to The Associated Press. Cuomo, on the “PBD Podcast,” said he voted for his brother because he wasn’t satisfied with either Trump or Harris.

“Would we be surprised if we could see who you voted for?” entrepreneur Patrick Bet-David (PBD) asked Cuomo.

“I probably shouldn’t tell you, but I can tell you who I voted for,” Cuomo responded. “You want to know?”

Bet-David answered affirmatively.

“I voted for my brother,” Cuomo disclosed. “I wrote him in.”

“Are you joking?” Bet-David asked.

Cuomo then offered to show Bet-David a picture of his ballot to “verify it in real time,” with the NewsNation host handing the show host his phone to confirm. Bet-David then asked Cuomo why he didn’t vote for Harris, noting his brother Andrew cast a ballot for the vice president.

“He’s a Democrat, so he does what he does,” Cuomo said. “My feeling is this: America can do better than these two candidates.”

“I’m not a Trump fan, okay? And I’m not a Democrat. I think this country can do better. I think that the movement behind Trump is very real; it’s been disrespected, and I think that’s problematic for America,” Cuomo continued. “I just think we can do better … To me, I just believe the choices are beneath the standard of American leadership. I think we have way better people to pick from.”

Cuomo argued on his own podcast Thursday that Trump beat Harris because of voter backlash against excessive liberal ideology.

“What is woke? They don’t even know what it is. Here’s what they believe it is, and it just won the presidential election,” he said. “The economy won the presidential election, and concerns that all go under the umbrella of wokeism — which, to people who voted for Trump, is a set of ideas that messes with traditional values, but more importantly, new ideas that are being forced on them to make their own, even if they don’t agree.”
