The Clearwater Public Library System reopened to the public on Monday, May 18th at 50 percent capacity, according to state guidelines.
Patrons will be expected to follow the CDC’s social distancing guidelines of staying 6 feet apart from others that are not in your party. Facemasks are recommended, but not required.
Patrons may use public internet computers for up to one hour per day. Meeting rooms will be closed and no reservations will be accepted. Study rooms, Multimedia Studios, and Heritage Studio stations will accommodate one person at a time, for up to two hours per day, and reservations must be made in advance at https://www.myclearwaterlibrary.com or by calling the library at (727) 562-4970.
Children’s play areas will be closed and there will be no in-person programming. Virtual programming will be offered.
The libraries will be closing periodically throughout each day for cleaning and disinfection.
Clearwater libraries offer “Library To Go” materials pickup service
Curbside pickup will be offered for materials at the Main and North Greenwood libraries and drive-through service will be available at the Countryside and East Community locations, during open hours. All Clearwater book drops will be open starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12.
The Clearwater Public Library System currently is offering curbside/drive-through materials pick-up services to assist patrons in maintaining CDC-recommended social distancing practices.
This service is available at all Clearwater library locations during open hours until 30 minutes before closing.

Requesting items
- Search the library catalog to find items you would like that are currently available at your preferred Clearwater library. Because county library deliveries are suspended, you may only choose items that are currently available at the Clearwater library you plan to visit. To do so, please click on the “All Libraries” drop-down menu in the upper left-hand corner of the catalog screen.
- Select your preferred Clearwater library, then conduct your search. You may request up to 10 items at a time.
- After you have identified your items, please fill out this request form and click “Submit” to place your request. If you prefer, you may call (727) 562-4970 to place your request. You must submit your library card number with your request.
- You will be notified via phone or email within 24 hours of the time of your request when your items are ready for pickup.
- If your items have not been picked up within three days of notification, the hold(s) will be removed from your account.
Picking up items
- After you are notified by library staff that your requests are ready, please proceed to your library. Staff will be wearing masks and gloves. We recommend patrons wear masks as well.
- At the Countryside and East Community libraries,
- if you are utilizing the drive-through in your vehicle, please proceed through the drive-through and show your photo ID to the library employee at the window. Your items will already be checked out to you and will be handed to you through the window in a bag. A receipt/due-date slip will be included.
- if you are utilizing curbside pickup, please park in the closest available open parking space and call to let staff know you have arrived. A staff member will meet you at the agreed-upon location outside of the library’s entrance. Please maintain CDC-recommended social distancing. Please show your photo ID to the library employee. The employee will have your items checked out to you, bagged, and ready for you to take from a cart. A receipt/due-date slip will be included.
- if you are picking up your items from inside the library, please proceed to the Circulation/Information Desk and maintain CDC-recommended social distancing. Please show your photo ID to the library employee at the desk. The employee will have your items checked out to you, bagged, and ready for you to take. A receipt/due-date slip will be included.
- At the Beach, Main, and North Greenwood libraries,
