Cold Front Hits Sacramento: Freeze Warning in Effect Until 7 AM Tuesday

Sacramento, California Much of Northern California is still under a freeze warning, with nightly lows of up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The National Weather Service has issued a warning that will be in effect from Monday at 10 p.m. to Tuesday at 7 a.m.

The Northern and Central Sacramento Valley, the Northern San Joaquin Valley, the Carquinez Strait and Delta, and foothill regions are among the impacted locations, according to the NWS. Cities like Chico, Redding, Stockton, Modesto, Sacramento, and others should brace for subfreezing temperatures.

Unprotected exterior plumbing, delicate plants, and crops are all at risk from the freezing temperatures. To avoid freezing damage, residents are advised to insulate exposed pipes, bring pets inside, and cover plants.

This freeze warning comes after a period of unusually cold weather in the area. Keeping abreast of local forecasts is advised by the National Weather Service because other cold fronts may form later in the week.

Icey road conditions could be an issue for travelers early on Tuesday morning, especially in rural and shaded locations. Drivers should exercise cautious and give their commutes more time.
