Confrontation over vandalism escalates into a violent robbery and arrest in D.C.

Washington, D.C.A man was taken into custody in relation to a robbery and assault that occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C., where the victim confronted the suspect and was robbed after being knocked out.

The event happened in the 1200 block of Half Street, Southeast, early on Wednesday morning. The victim confronted someone they thought had damaged a car window at around 5:30 a.m. The victim was then attacked by the suspect, who repeatedly struck them in the head with a screwdriver.

After the victim passed out and hit the ground, the suspect took the victim’s phone and left the area. The victim had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital by emergency personnel.

Craig Hunter, 29, who does not have a known home, was taken into custody by the police on Friday. He faces charges of second-degree theft and assault with a dangerous weapon.

The Metro Transit Police Department was given credit by the police for helping to make the arrest.
