Columbia, Over the weekend, a heated argument over a kid’s basketball game in Columbia, Connecticut, turned into a startling hit-and-run. Bryan Baez-Rivera, 29, is a coach for a visiting girls team. According to the police, he purposefully hit someone with his automobile following a verbal argument, injuring the victim and starting an inquiry.
Incident Details and Video Evidence
The altercation started at Horace W. Porter School on Saturday morning at a Parks and Recreation event that included a girls’ basketball game.
As Baez-Rivera tried to exit the parking lot, the victim walked into the road to stop him, according to surveillance footage released by Connecticut State Police. The victim is shown in the footage falling over the hood as the automobile speeds and hits them.

The victim claims that the dispute with Baez-Rivera started after the game and turned violent in the parking lot. According to the victim, Baez-Rivera intentionally collided with them.
Responding troopers were informed by the victim that they had a verbal altercation with Bryan Baez-Rivera, 29, the coach of the visiting team. According to the victim, Baez-Rivera purposefully drove them over when they attempted to approach him in the parking lot, according to the police.
But when Baez-Rivera spoke to authorities, he provided a different account of what happened. He asserted that the victim started pursuing him following the verbal altercation. According to Baez-Rivera, the victim could not have prevented the collision as he entered the road.
The coach added that he ran from the scene, fearing for his safety and the safety of the kids in his car, and that other people started pursuing his car.
Charges and Police Findings
Police concluded after watching the CCTV footage that Baez-Rivera didn’t seem to try to avoid hitting the victim. He was thus taken into custody and is currently facing severe charges, such as two counts of assault, breach of peace, reckless endangerment, and risk of injury to a youngster.
Baez-Rivera posted a $5,000 bond and was taken out of detention. Authorities are still working to piece together the entire extent of what happened, and the investigation into the incident is still underway.
