Connecticut Special Ed. Teacher Who Threatened to Kill Trump Voters Resigns

CHESHIRE, CT — A Connecticut teacher has resigned following backlash over a Snapchat video in which she appeared to threaten people who support former President Donald Trump. Annie Dunleavy, a special education teacher at Chapman School in Cheshire, stepped down after the video went viral, prompting an investigation by the Cheshire Public Schools and local police.

“You will end up on a stretcher, gone forever,” she said in an unhinged video.

In the video, Dunleavy expressed hostility toward individuals who voted for Trump, saying she would “fight and hurt” anyone who confronted her about their support for the former president. The remarks led to her being placed on administrative leave as school officials and police reviewed the incident.

Speaking to News 8’s Dennis House, Dunleavy explained that the video stemmed from a “moment of high emotion” and that her message was misinterpreted. “The message came off wrong, which was if this is going to give people the permission in their minds to enact violence against women, I wanted to say, I’m not going down without a fight,” Dunleavy said. She added that her intent was to convey self-defense, not to incite violence.

The Cheshire Public Schools district has since accepted her resignation, and Dunleavy is no longer employed with the school system. In a statement, school officials emphasized their commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all students and staff, regardless of political views.
