On Monday morning commutes in New Jersey, there was a crash and a watermain break.
Trenton, New Jersey. The Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, and important Hudson River crossings were among the major roads in New Jersey where commuters saw a number of traffic disruptions Monday morning, including wrecks, watermain breaks, and significant delays.
All lanes are still available as of 8:10 a.m., but there were early delays due to a collision on the Garden State Parkway northbound close to Exit 90 in Brick Township. Vehicles were shifted to the right shoulder following another incident that was reported on the Parkway northbound at Exit 130B-A in Woodbridge Township.
In South Hackensack Township, commuters traveling west on US Route 46 faced a significant challenge as all lanes were restricted due to a watermain break east of Central Avenue since 7:23 a.m. Significant effects have been noted in the area as a result of the traffic detour.
Several important arteries suffered from volume-related delays. There was traffic on the Garden State Parkway northbound for two miles between Exits 89C and 90, and there were delays on the New Jersey Turnpike’s Eastern Spur outside of Interchange 16E in Secaucus and close to Interchange 15W in Newark.
Crossings of the Hudson River were also badly affected. Delays at the George Washington Bridge’s lower level eastbound caused travel times to increase to 35 minutes, while the Lincoln Tunnel’s center and south tunnels approached 40 minutes.
There were morning delays on NJ-24, the NJ Turnpike Hudson County Extension, and other Garden State Parkway locations.
