Cyclist dies after crash on Arctic Avenue in Virginia Beach


VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A cyclist involved in a collision on October 13 at the intersection of 30th Street and Arctic Avenue has died from his injuries, the Virginia Beach Police Department confirmed on Tuesday. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Matthew Hurley of Virginia Beach, passed away at a local hospital on October 16.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 9:54 p.m. on October 13, where Hurley was found with life-threatening injuries. According to a preliminary investigation, Hurley was traveling west on 30th Street when he entered the intersection against a red traffic signal and collided with a vehicle moving north on Arctic Avenue.

Authorities reported that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with emergency responders. No additional details about the driver or potential charges have been released.
