BRENTWOOD, Maryland. Playing Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax, a retired railroad worker from Washington, D.C., has once again struck it rich, earning $30,879 on a longshot wager. He has now won three major Racetrax races, all of which were in Maryland.
During a shopping trip to Maryland in early June, the winner bought the lucky ticket at AJ Liquors on Bladensburg Road. “I went in to play Racetrax after seeing the lottery sign,” he said. Unaware of the prize it contained, he put the ticket in his wallet as usual and carried on with his day. When he looked at the results a few hours later, he saw that he had won almost $31,000.
He told officials that the event was even more unexpected than his prior Racetrax victories, calling it a true bombshell. He had previously traveled to Baltimore to collect his two previous wins, both of which came from longshot wagers.
According to the veteran Racetrax player, the game is still his favorite whenever he buys tickets in Maryland. He also mentioned that his recent success with longshot wagers may have an impact on his future tactics.
In order to ensure that the award would have a long-lasting effect on his family, the D.C. resident intends to donate his most recent winnings to his grandchildren’s schooling.
The $30,879 reward will be used to support the grandchildren’s future, according to the three-time Maryland Racetrax winner.
