GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 28-year-old man from Damascus has been charged with multiple offenses related to the rape and sexual abuse of three teenage girls, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police. Detectives from the Special Victims Investigation Division (SVID) have arrested Irvin Ariel Portillo in connection with the case and are concerned there may be additional victims.
The investigation began on October 29, when police received a report alleging that Portillo had raped a teenage girl. As detectives pursued the case, two other victims were identified, all of whom are minors, authorities said.
Portillo was arrested on November 8 by members of the 5th District Community Action Team, who served him with an arrest warrant. He faces charges including second-degree rape and third-degree sexual offense. Portillo is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
“Detectives believe there may be more victims and encourage them to come forward,” the department said in a statement on Thursday. Police are urging anyone with additional information or who suspects they may have been victimized by Portillo to contact the Special Victims Investigation Division.
Montgomery County police have established a dedicated phone line for tips and information, and individuals can reach SVID detectives at 240-773-5400.
