Delaware early voting results show Democrats leading in turnout

DOVER, Del. — Delaware’s early voting data reveals strong participation from Democratic voters, with Democrats leading both in-person early voting and mail ballot returns ahead of Election Day.

Total Early Voting Turnout by Party

As of the latest tally, a total of 229,025 Delaware residents have cast their ballots early, either in person or by mail. Here’s how the numbers break down by party registration:

  • Democrats: 105,426 votes (46.0%)
  • Republicans: 76,238 votes (33.3%)
  • None/Minor Parties: 47,361 votes (20.7%)

In-Person Early Voting

Of the early voters, a large portion chose to vote in person. In-person early voting has attracted 193,502 voters across the state, with the following breakdown by party:

  • Democrats: 84,852 votes (43.9%)
  • Republicans: 67,779 votes (35.0%)
  • None/Minor Parties: 40,871 votes (21.1%)

Democrats currently hold the largest share of in-person early votes, making up nearly 44% of the turnout. Republicans account for 35%, and unaffiliated or minor party voters make up about 21%.

Mail Ballot Returns

In addition to in-person voting, 35,523 Delawareans have returned mail ballots, with Democrats again leading in turnout:

  • Democrats: 20,574 mail ballots returned (57.9% of mail ballots cast)
  • Republicans: 8,459 mail ballots returned (23.8%)
  • None/Minor Parties: 6,490 mail ballots returned (18.3%)

Mail ballot return rates show that Democrats requested the most mail ballots (27,604) and returned 74.5% of them, while Republicans returned 75.8% of the 11,158 mail ballots they requested. Unaffiliated or minor party voters returned 71.8% of their 9,038 requested ballots.

Summary

With Election Day approaching, early voting data indicates a higher turnout among Democratic voters in Delaware, particularly in mail ballots. Republicans and unaffiliated voters have also shown significant participation in in-person voting. Election officials expect these numbers to continue rising as Delawareans take advantage of early voting options.

Delaware voters who haven’t yet cast their ballots can still vote early in person or choose to vote on Election Day. Mail ballots must be returned by the designated deadline to be counted.
