Delaware Man Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Troopers and Resisting Arrest in New Castle



New Castle, DE – Delaware State Police arrested a 23-year-old New Castle man Sunday after he allegedly assaulted troopers during a roadside stop on Dupont Highway. Troopers responded to a report of a black Ford Edge stopped in the roadway, with its engine running and the driver unconscious.

When approached, Brandon Ash, identified as the driver, regained consciousness and exited the vehicle. Troopers noted signs of impairment and a strong odor of marijuana. Ash allegedly resisted verbal commands, attempting to re-enter the vehicle and later trying to seize a trooper’s Taser during a struggle.

Troopers subdued Ash and transported him to a hospital for minor injuries. According to Delaware State Police, two officers also received medical treatment after the incident.

A search of Ash’s vehicle allegedly revealed 1.63 grams of marijuana. Ash faced multiple charges, including felony assault of an officer, resisting arrest, and driving under the influence. Authorities set his bond at $46,500.
