Delaware man arrested in fatal Cecil County shooting that left two dead, two injured

ELKTON, Maryland.In relation to a November shooting in Cecil County, Maryland, that claimed two lives and injured two more, a 23-year-old Delaware man was taken into custody on Wednesday.

According to Maryland State Police, Justice Schmeek Pratt, of Bear, Delaware, is charged with several counts, including assault, reckless endangerment, second-degree murder, and offenses involving firearms. With the help of Delaware State Police and the First State Fugitive Task Force, authorities arrested Pratt earlier in the day at a Bear home.


On November 2, a party in Elkton’s unit block of Chestnut Drive was the scene of a shooting. According to police, a dispute between guests turned heated and continued outdoors, where Pratt is accused of shooting into the throng.

Tamir Rasheek Davis, 26, of New Castle, Delaware, and Darius Anthony Blalock, 26, of Bear, Delaware, were two of the victims who were declared dead. Later that morning, Blalock’s body was found on the side of southbound I-95, while Davis passed away at a hospital after being taken there by residents. Two other individuals were injured and transported to nearby hospitals; their identities have not been made public.

Authorities found several rounds of ammo and two 9mm pistols during a search of Pratt’s Channing Drive home. Pratt is still awaiting his first court commissioner appearance in Cecil County.
