NEWARK, Del. — Delaware State Police have arrested a Middletown man following a break-in at the Sallie Mae building in Newark early Wednesday morning.
Brandon Bell, 35, was apprehended after allegedly forcing his way into the Sallie Mae office located at 300 Continental Drive. The incident occurred on October 30, 2024, around 1:10 a.m., when security personnel reported seeing a man who had previously attempted to enter the building return and forcibly gain entry.
Troopers arrived at the scene and conducted a search of the building, deploying a K9 unit to locate the suspect. Bell was quickly apprehended by the K9 team and taken into custody. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the apprehension, before being released to police custody.
Following his medical evaluation, Bell was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with burglary-related offenses. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $2,000 secured bond.
