Delaware State Police search for suspect in Newark vehicular assault and robbery




Newark, Del. A man who is suspected of hitting a pedestrian with a car and robbing him in the parking lot of a gas station in Newark on Wednesday night is being sought by Delaware State Police.

According to authorities, the incident happened at the Shell petrol station on East Chestnut Hill Road at around 6:45 p.m. A red passenger automobile came at a high pace and hit a 38-year-old man who was strolling across the parking lot. According to authorities, the driver, John Arce, 31, of Newark, got out of the car, took the victim’s money, and ran away.

After suffering severe injuries, the victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Arce was later determined by investigators to be a member of the victim’s family.

Troop 2 detectives have filed a warrant for Arce’s arrest on several criminal charges, including robbery and vehicular assault. Police are asking the public for help in locating him as his present whereabouts are unknown.
