Delaware woman charged in vehicle theft and shoplifting spree across New Castle County

Del. Wilmington.Delaware State Police have arrested a woman from Newark for a series of shopliftings and car thefts that targeted locations throughout New Castle County over the course of many months.

On December 30, troopers responded to Wilmington’s Delaware Park Casino after receiving reports of a disruptive individual who was refusing to leave the site, leading to the arrest of Christina Cerroni, 46. According to the police, Cerroni gave a phony identity at first, but a trooper who had worked on previous investigations identified him.

Between September 27 and December 29, Cerroni allegedly committed many auto thefts in Wilmington and Newark, according to the State Police. Authorities claim that she stole from unattended and unsecured cars in each case before escaping the scene.

Additionally, in April and May, Cerroni was named as the suspect in four stealing cases at a Target store in the Christiana Mall. The amount of stolen goods from such events, according to the police, exceeded $1,000.

Cerroni was taken to Troop 2 after being arrested and charged with several offenses, including stealing and giving fake identification to police authorities. After being arraigned, she was given a $2,000 cash bond and remanded to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.
