Doctor Indulged in Inappropriate Acts in front of Patient when She Rejected His Proposal; Arrested by Michigan Authorities

An alleged incident involving a Detroit doctor has come to light, where he is accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior in the presence of an elderly woman. The woman reportedly declined the doctor’s advances after he offered her a ride home from a hair appointment.

A 54-year-old man named Stephen Bruce Mason allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with a 76-year-old woman whom he befriended online. The incident took place on August 1st when Mason offered the woman a ride home from her appointment. These details were revealed by the Macomb County prosecutor.

The woman welcomed the doctor into her Sterling Heights home after he gave her a ride, but he took advantage of her hospitality and made inappropriate advances towards her. However, she promptly rejected his advances, as reported by the prosecutor’s office.

After being turned down, Mason reportedly engaged in inappropriate behavior in front of the older individual.

He was subsequently apprehended and faced charges of assault and aggravated indecent exposure.

“Our legal system does not discriminate based on profession or social standing. Whether you are a doctor or any other member of the community, the law applies equally to everyone,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement.

“We are dedicated to pursuing justice impartially, ensuring that all individuals are held accountable for their actions.”

According to a news report on Thursday, Mason has a history of run-ins with the law, including previous accusations of sexual misconduct in multiple states.

According to ClickOnDetriot, his medical license in his home state of Indiana was revoked after a 2005 investigation by the state medical board uncovered serious misconduct. The investigation found that he had engaged in sexual contact with a patient, solicited his employees for sex, and behaved inappropriately by touching them. Additionally, it was reported that he regularly consumed alcohol while seeing patients at his family medical practice.

Additionally, the local outlet reported that he faced allegations of selling prescriptions for controlled substances.

After two years, he relocated to Wisconsin and began practicing medicine with a restricted medical license. This license was granted to him with the condition that he participate in a sexual addiction treatment program and undergo regular drug and alcohol screenings.

Later in 2011, he relocated to Michigan and began working for Lake MI Mobile Doctors USA, providing medical services through home visits, according to the local station’s report.

However, he and two other doctors found themselves under investigation by the FBI and Michigan Department of Health due to their involvement in a $1.7 million fraud scheme. The documents showed that Medicare was being charged for home visits that were either never conducted or deemed unnecessary.

Mason admitted to felony conspiracy to commit health care fraud and was given an 18-month prison sentence and a $50,000 fine by Michigan’s state medical board in 2017, as reported by ClickOnDetriot.
