A man was arrested by the Jackson County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office on Friday following a high-speed chase that reached speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that on Aug. 30, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a Jackson County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a 2019 Toyota Camry for exceeding the speed limit and violating other traffic regulations.
The driver continued without slowing down, speeding down U.S. Highway 75 at speeds exceeding 100 mph and maneuvering onto the shoulder to overtake other vehicles. A deputy chased the driver, beginning near 198th Road and concluding approximately 11 miles south near 110th Road.
A 27-year-old driver from Lenexa, Kansas, named Sedrick Jaquise Hatfield, has been arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail. He is facing multiple charges:
- Fleeing and eluding law enforcement by engaging in reckless driving
- Driving under the influence (first conviction)
- Incapable of driving safely
- Improper driving on the roadway
- No vehicle registration
- Driving without a valid license.
Hatfield’s bail has been set at $50,000.
