A driver was murdered and another was taken to the hospital following a horrific head-on collision in Pasco County Monday morning.
The crash occurred on State Road 54 around 7:55 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. The driver was apparently driving east in a Tesla Model 3, while the other was driving west in an Infiniti G37.
According to troopers, the driver of the Infiniti lost control at a curve, crashing into the grass median and flipping. After exiting the median, the Infiniti slammed head-on with the Tesla, troopers said.
FHP reported that both cars ended up in the eastbound lanes before the Infiniti caught fire.
Both drivers were critically hurt and transferred to nearby hospitals. According to troopers, the driver of the Tesla died shortly after being injured.
