The City of Clearwater invites the public to join its 2021 Earth Day celebration with an interactive and educational outdoor invasive species scavenger hunt at Moccasin Lake Nature Park. Participants will learn about the state’s invasive plant species and how to identify them in real life

Florida is one of the top states threatened by invasive plant species due to the region’s abundance of water and sunlight. These invasive plants frequently look pretty but cause harm to our native species and natural ecosystems. Learning how to identify invasive species will help Clearwater residents learn what species they should avoid planting and what plants they should remove from their property in order to protect Florida’s native species.

The scavenger hunt takes place on Saturday, April 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Additional information about environmental city services, such as recycling and neighborhoods programs, will be available.

Registration is limited in order to allow proper social distancing. RSVP at https://www.givepulse.com/event/227193-Earth-Day-INVADES-Moccasin-Lake-Nature-Park?referring_group_id=449290
