East Brunswick police warn drivers: ‘Don’t block the box’ at newly painted intersection

New Jersey’s East Brunswick. In an effort to improve safety and lessen traffic, the East Brunswick Police Department is asking motorists not to obstruct the recently painted intersection box at Rues Lane and Hillsdale Road.

Introduced in recent weeks, the painted grid designates an area where cars are not allowed to stop while they wait for traffic to pass. When drivers enter the box without making sure they can depart it completely, they run the risk of blocking traffic trying to enter or exit Hillsdale Road, which causes delays and bottlenecks.

Section 39:4-67 of the Motor Vehicles and Traffic Regulation of New Jersey, which forbids drivers from entering junctions while traffic in front of them delays immediate clearance, was cited by officials. The purpose of the law is to guarantee that roads are safe to travel on and to lower the likelihood of accidents at busy intersections.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the agency said that when a car clogs the box, they disrupt traffic flow and create needless safety risks. The message underlined how crucial polite driving is to preserving the area’s efficient traffic flow.

As enforcement of the regulation continues, authorities are asking drivers to maintain the painted box free at all times and to pay careful attention to traffic conditions.

According to East Brunswick police, blocking the box causes traffic jams and delays.
