Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania Ice Advisory: Slick Roads Likely from 4 AM to 11 AM Saturday

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania A winter weather advisory has been issued for western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, warning of slick roads because of a mixture of ice and snow that started early Saturday morning.

The alert is in force for areas such as Tuscarawas, Carroll, and Columbiana counties in Ohio, as well as Mercer, Venango, and Butler counties in Pennsylvania, from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh. Parts of Clarion, Jefferson, and Indiana counties may see icy conditions until 5 p.m., while higher elevations in Westmoreland and Fayette counties may be affected until 1 p.m.

Up to two inches of total snow accumulation and a thin layer of ice are anticipated. Forecasters caution that untreated driveways, sidewalks, and roadways may become slick, raising the possibility of falls and other travel problems.

It is recommended that residents drive more cautiously and at a slower pace. When going outside, people should be aware of icy surfaces. NWS Pittsburgh can be notified of snow or ice accumulations by phone at 412-262-1988 or through social media.
