Police respond to pedestrian crash on Valley Street

According to the Manchester Police Department, officers were dispatched around 6:18 p.m. to the area of 917 Valley Street, near Cypress Street, following reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found that a Volkswagen Jetta traveling eastbound on Valley Street had struck an elderly man who was in the roadway at the time of the collision.

Victim transported to hospital, later dies

Police said the victim, an 81-year-old Manchester resident, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, pending notification of family members.

Teen driver not injured, identity withheld

The vehicle was being driven by a 16-year-old boy, whose identity has not been released due to his age. Police confirmed that the teen was not injured in the crash.
