Democrats are fighting about issues like age, ideology, and how to regain power, but they are coming to a consensus more and more: Their party needs a positive vision.
That’s where the agreement stops.
Michigan Democrat Senator Elissa Slotkin is attempting to assist her party in completing those specifics.
Ms. Slotkin, who presented the Democratic response to President Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress in March, is giving a series of speeches that occasionally irritate more left-wing Democrats by being a candid assessment of her party’s issues, a prescription for policy, and a political motivational speech.
She unveiled what she dubbed her “economic war plan” last month, which centered on destroying some sacred cows while restoring the middle class.
Later this year, she intends to deliver speeches on democracy and security.
In an interview this week, Ms. Slotkin stated that playing defense alone will not win you a game, a war, or anything else. You cannot constantly criticize Donald Trump and highlight his wrongdoings. If you are in a position of authority, you must demonstrate a positive and affirmative vision of what you will accomplish.
During the half-hour discussion, Ms. Slotkin talked about the 2028 presidential contest, the emerging fault lines defining Democratic debates, and her party’s communications issues.
