Facebook Blocks Users From Sharing Media Interview With Donald Trump

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Facebook prevented users from sharing an interview featuring former President Donald Trump last week, citing a violation of the platform’s community standards. The interview, hosted by Fox News contributor Tyrus on OutKick’s Maintaining With Tyrus, focused on Trump’s views on various topics including manhood, religion, and an assassination attempt.

According to OutKick, several users who attempted to share the YouTube link of the interview received a message stating, “Your content couldn’t be shared because this goes against our Community Standards.” OutKick reported that dozens of individuals across the U.S. encountered the same issue. OutKick reached out to Meta, Facebook’s parent company, to inquire about the restriction.

A Meta representative responded, attributing the incident to a technical “error” and indicated that the issue was resolved after the company was contacted. However, when asked to provide details on what caused the problem, Meta stated it was related to difficulties handling certain links generated by third-party URL shorteners. OutKick claims it did not use any shorteners in this instance, raising questions about the given explanation.

The incident extended beyond the single interview. After being alerted, OutKick attempted to post another video featuring Trump’s interview with Clay Travis during the Alabama-Georgia football game. This link was also blocked under similar circumstances but was restored after further communication with Meta.

OutKick reported that it found no similar restrictions affecting interviews featuring Vice President Kamala Harris, leading to additional speculation about inconsistencies in the platform’s enforcement. As of Wednesday, Meta has not released any additional comments or clarifications regarding the issue.
