Fatal hit-and-run in Accokeek claims life of local woman, police seek driver




Police in Prince George’s County are looking into a hit-and-run that killed a 40-year-old woman on Indian Head Highway on Friday night.

Around 9:50 p.m., responding officers discovered the victim, Loretta Canter-Andrews of Accokeek, on the road close to the intersection of Farmington Road and Indian Head Highway. Because of the harm she had received in the crash, she was declared dead at the site.

According to preliminary investigations, a car who ran away from the scene struck Canter-Andrews in the northbound lanes of the highway. The driver and the vehicle involved are being identified by investigators from the department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit.
