Fentanyl dealer arrested in Main Street drug investigation, authorities say

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.The Dutchess County Drug Task Force said Tuesday that a 19-year-old male has been taken into custody and charged in connection with an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking along Main Street.

On November 25, the suspect—Jahking Z. Murphy—was taken into custody after a search warrant was issued at his home at 455 Main Street. Authorities claim that before Murphy was arrested, undercover operatives bought fentanyl from him in the vicinity.

Murphy is being charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, which is a Class B felony in New York State. As mandated by state law, he was released on electronic monitoring after being arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court.

The Drug Task Force is conducting the investigation as part of a larger effort to stop the distribution of fentanyl along Main Street, especially between North Clinton and North Hamilton streets. Authorities declared fentanyl to be lethal and promised to keep up their efforts to apprehend individuals who sell it.
