Atlanta, GeorgiaPeachtree City’s National Weather Service (NWS) declared north and central Georgia to be at risk of fire. Because of the dry fuels and low humidity, the advisory is still in place today from noon to seven o’clock.
The NWS predicts that northerly wind speeds will stay below 5 mph and that relative humidity will fall to 25% or less. Wildfire risk is increased by these factors. Before starting an outdoor fire, officials advise homeowners to review the local burn restrictions.
Extreme caution is advised by authorities when burning outside. Dry plants can catch fire from even a tiny spark and spread quickly. Residents should refrain from burning during periods of extreme dryness and have fire suppression equipment close at hand.
Local organizations are still keeping an eye on the issue. If conditions change, officials will update the advisory. The public should use official weather sources to stay informed.
