On Monday, a district attorney convicted a suburban mayor guilty of theft as well as official misconduct.
Charles Griffin, the Mayor of Ford Heights, was found guilty by a judge in Cook County of two charges of official misconduct and one count of theft or unlawful control of government property with a value greater than $10,000 but less than $100,000.
As a result of suspicions that Griffin stole money from the village, the charges have been brought against him. When he was initially charged in 2018, he was accused of stealing a total of one hundred fifty thousand dollars.
In court, the evidence that was presented demonstrated that Griffin had stolen more than ten thousand dollars from the resources of the community.
His subsequent court date is set for October 24th, and it will be for the purpose of post-trial motions and possible punishment.
