Former Jackson Resident Living in Florida Indicted for 2022 Fatal Collision in Howell




NJ’s Freehold Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Wednesday that a former Ocean County resident has been charged in connection with a tragic multi-vehicle accident in Howell in 2022.

Former Jackson Township resident Drew Peterson, 34, of Jensen Beach, Florida, is charged with one count of second-degree vehicular manslaughter. The indictment was issued on Wednesday, October 30, after a forensic toxicologist conducted a thorough evaluation. On Monday, November 18, Peterson returned to New Jersey and was processed.

Around 12:05 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022, the occurrence took place. On Route 33, west of the Colts Neck Road intersection, Peterson was driving a 2004 Ford F150 pickup west when it crossed the centerline and collided with a 2004 Kia Rio. The pickup then collided head-on with a 2010 Dodge Challenger driven by 50-year-old Robert C. Johnson of Neptune Township as it continued in the wrong direction. Peterson was ejected as the truck overturned due to the collision.
