Fugitive Wanted for February Murder in D.C. Sought by Police

WASHINGTON — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Northwest Washington earlier this year. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Orlando Anderson, is wanted on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder while Armed.

The incident occurred on Monday, February 12, 2024, at approximately 2:41 a.m. Officers responded to the 900 block of Shepherd Street, Northwest, after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male, later identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Dewayne Johnson of Southeast D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anderson, who police say has no fixed address, is believed to be armed. Authorities have released a photograph of Anderson and are urging anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to avoid taking any action and to immediately contact law enforcement.

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to Anderson’s arrest. Those with information are encouraged to call (202) 727-9099 or text the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
