Gang Member Among Those Arrested After Chase and Shotgun Toss in Stanislaus County

A dramatic police pursuit in Stanislaus County resulted in multiple arrests and the recovery of a sawed-off shotgun.

In the early hours of Sunday, at approximately 2:18 a.m., officers from the Ceres Police Department discovered a gray 2017 Kia Sportage that had been reported as stolen, near the intersection of 10th Street and Whitmore Avenue. Authorities reported that they tried to stop the vehicle at the junction of Whitmore Avenue and Mitchell Road, but the stolen car did not comply. A police pursuit ensued after the driver failed to stop in Ceres.

As the chase unfolded, authorities reported that the individuals inside the vehicle discarded a loaded sawed-off shotgun. One of the officers in pursuit paused to retrieve the firearm. In an effort to conclude the perilous chase, CPD carried out a PIT maneuver that rendered the stolen vehicle inoperable.

Authorities apprehended all individuals in the vehicle, with at least one identified as a gang affiliate, as reported by CPD. The individuals have been taken into custody and are now at the Stanislaus County Jail.
