Georgia Girl Who Ran Away After Argument with Father Found in Another State Under False Name

A teenage girl from Georgia was discovered safely in a neighborhood after going missing over a year ago following a fight with her father.

to the pleasure of her ecstatic mother, authorities declared Monday that she was entering the state under a false name.

On February 1, 2024, Asata Amun, then 16 years old, was seen on doorbell camera running shoeless and without any personal possessions from her Buford, Gwinnett County, house, according to reports and authorities.

The girl vanished after her father threatened to send her to military school for discipline issues.

According to the station, Kwabena Amun, the father, yelled, “So you are just going to run like a coward, Asata.”

Amun has been in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services since February 2024, but under a false identity, according to Gwinnett police, following 13 months of ambiguity.

After sorting through the girl’s contradictory allegations, Tennessee authorities were eventually able to determine Amun’s genuine identity.

Jasmine Dominique, the girl’s mother, told this week that she “dropped the phone” when she received the wonderful news about her daughter.

The Connecticut-based parent remarked, “I couldn’t believe it.”

Dominique added that she wants to see her daughter again soon. “She was in Atlanta when she left and she slept in the street until someone kind of helped her and got her on a bus to go where she needed to go to feel safe,” Dominique said.
