Atlanta, GeorgiaA truck driver faces criminal charges following a frantic hit-and-run that was captured on camera. The driver’s 18-wheeler forced a passenger car through two major intersections in Georgia before he fled the scene.
The horrific event happened on January 28 in the community of Gwinnett Place, which is only 25 miles northeast of Atlanta. The startling video, which was made public by Gwinnett County police, shows the truck and silver sedan collision on Pleasant Hill Road close to the Interstate 85 overpass.
Tractor-Trailer Sparks Chaos at Busy Intersection
The truck was trying to shift into the right lane when it collided with the passenger car, spinning it straight into its path. The incident was caught on camera. The truck kept tearing ahead, pushing the defenseless automobile through two crossroads as traffic sped by, trapping the sedan in front of the enormous vehicle.
The horrific trip from inside the car as it was pushed across the busy road was captured from a different perspective by the victim’s dashboard camera.
Driver Flees Scene, Leaving Shaken Motorist Behind
The truck driver continued to drag the vehicle through the intersections without stopping. Rather, he drove away, abandoning the vehicle and its driver.
Thankfully, the driver of the vehicle was unharmed and reported the hit-and-run to the police right away.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
After swiftly locating the tractor-trailer, investigators determined that the suspect was Christian Barrier, a 31-year-old Alabaman. Barrier turned himself in to the Gwinnett County Jail on Friday.
He is currently facing a number of allegations, such as dangerous driving, hit-and-run, improper lane changes, and reckless behavior. Authorities have not disclosed any new information regarding the possibility of extra fines or punishments.
